Having a good acting showreel is a very important asset that can make the difference between getting an agent or an audition. All good casting agencies require an actor to have a showreel and as an actor it can often be difficult to find the right place to get a decent portfolio.
Tarmak Films is offering attractive packages for compiling actor showreels. We can store your work on our servers so you can update your showreel at a later stage, insuring that your reel is never outdated.
If you are an actor and want your work to shine through a creative edit , just drop us a line.

Everybody knows that RED has run into some delays regarding the delivery of the Scarlet. Its original shipment date was supposed to be early 2010 and here we are in January still awaiting an official date. According to Ted he estimates a release for late spring early summer. I would say that this could mean later this year. I believe that the RED team had to make some adjustment regarding the camera design given the amount of digital SLR camera released on the market that surprised everybody with their H264 video quality. Also notice that RED originaly sold the Scarlet’s stills photography capabilities on their website but if you visit the website now there is barely any mention of it. Go figure it out, I think that one would have to compete not only with the quality of stills Canon or Nikon deliver in their high end digital SLR’s but also with the form factor. See the video below and see if you would go out and shoot stills with it. Don’t think so. Given that the delivery for a “high-end point and shoot digital cinema” camera looks promising.
Every weekday evening Channel 4 broadcasts in the UK a short three-minute film, under the series entitled ‘three minute wonder’, immediately after the main evening news. On Thursday 14 January, the ‘three minute wonder’ will be about South Indian banker J S Parthibhan and his quest to bring micro-financing into his local community.
The film is called ‘Banking on Change’ and is a short extract from a prize-winning 15-minute documentary of South Indian banker Parthibhan. It was shot last December by Eric Trometer and directed by Andrew Hinton from Pilgrim Films, London, on behalf of IofC India.
‘Banking on Change’ was selected for broadcast after being one of the four winners out of 200 entrants in the 4Doc’s & The Cooperative – three minute wonder competition. You can watch it on the web at: http://www.4docs.org.uk/competition/view/340/Banking+On+Change
On behalf of Tarmak Films we congratulate Andrew and Eric on a job well done, looks good and feels wonderful…

FCO: You’ve been living and working in the UK for 11 years now, how has that helped you forge your filmmaking career?
Dana Trometer: Basically it was a massive help. I studied communication and arts at the Lebanese American University of Beirut and wrote a thesis on theatre and film but I always wanted to come to Britain and study documentary because I wanted to become a good documentary maker. My father was a British national – he had to move from Lebanon during the war in the 1970s and never came back so I really wanted to live with him. He was a very political cartoonist and worked for the Observer and a lot of British magazines so he was bridging our two cultures by using his art. [continue reading]
