Khawater 6 – in London

Tarmak Films has just finished the production coordination of a big shoot in London for ‘Eproducers’ from Egypt for a 30 x 15min episodes during Ramadan this year to be broadcast on 4 major satellite channels in the Middle East during August – September 2010.

The show which is called ‘ thoughts’ in english has been running for 5 consecutive years and the 6th year was to be shot in the UK and the theme of the show was the Islamic heritage in the Western world .

We had the honour to produce the London Shoot along with Dr Adam Hart Davis & Chris Hill who amazed us by his replicas of old ancient inventions.

Pilgrim Films – IofC India – BANKING ON CHANGE wins ‘Good to Know’ competition, 4Docs .

Every weekday evening Channel 4 broadcasts in the UK a short three-minute film, under the series entitled ‘three minute wonder’, immediately after the main evening news. On Thursday 14 January, the ‘three minute wonder’ will be about South Indian banker J S Parthibhan and his quest to bring micro-financing into his local community.

The film is called ‘Banking on Change’ and is a short extract from a prize-winning 15-minute documentary of South Indian banker Parthibhan. It was shot last December by Eric Trometer and directed by Andrew Hinton from Pilgrim Films, London, on behalf of IofC India.
‘Banking on Change’ was selected for broadcast after being one of the four winners out of 200 entrants in the 4Doc’s & The Cooperative – three minute wonder competition. You can watch it on the web at: http://www.4docs.org.uk/competition/view/340/Banking+On+Change

“Tangled Up in Blue” opens at Dubai International Film Festival

“Tangled Up in Blue” is the first feature film by British born director Haider Rashid. The film had its World Premiere at the Dubai International Film Festival. The film shot on DV was onlined on Final Cut Pro and mastered to HDCAM at Tarmak Films ltd. Eric Trometer supervised the post and overlooked all the technical aspects linked to up-res’ing, conforming and color grading.

“Tangled Up in Blue” is a Drama of urban alienation set in an austere and chaotic London. The son of a world-renowned Iraqi writer struggles with his conscience as he plans to publish a book by exploiting his assassinated father’s fame, while wrestling with his unrequited love for his best friend.

TANGLED UP IN BLUE explores themes of exile, love, war, friendship and solitude with a blue-tinged realism.

RIGGING, LIGHTING AND FILMING RE-RITE

re-rite, the Philharmonia Orchestra’s Digital Residency, will allow members of the public to conduct, play and step inside the Philharmonia Orchestra with Esa-Pekka Salonen through audio and video projections of musicians performing Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.

Opening to the public at the Bargehouse on London’s South Bank on Tuesday 3rd November, the project will show every section of the Orchestra performing Rite of Spring simultaneously ‘as live’ throughout a four-storey warehouse building. The public will able to sit amongst the horn players, perform in the percussion section and take up the baton and control sections of the Orchestra as they play.

On the 1st of September 2009, Tarmak Films was contracted by the Philharmonia Orchestra to carry out the cinematography of the performance of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. The piece was performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra solely for the 25 cameras (Sony EX1) that were spread across the floor to record every section of the orchestra as a separate entity. It took one day and one night to prepare for the arrival of the musicians and give this installation a cinematic feel. The brief was not to make it look like stage lighting. I opted for a very soft pool of light in the centre of the orchestra for the strings and a harder Rembrandt look for the semi circle surrounding the strings.
